History

A Mechanical Engineer, Byron Smyrniotis purchased Mound City Shelled Nut Co in 1973, and has served as President since. The Vice President, Stacy Smyrniotis, has a degree in Sociology from Oklahoma State, and has joined Byron every day since 1990, supervising day to day business.

As a Masonic past Master, and Pilot, Byron has been an active member of the Shriner's Air Patrol, serving as President and Director (providing air transportation for patients and family) for over fifty years. In addition to volunteer work to help raise money for the Shriner's hospital, Mound City offers a donation option for customers at the time of check out. (100% of the proceeds go to the hospital). Byron has also served as President for several non-profit organizations, both at local and National levels.

Byron and Stacy have three children, two are twin boys and are blessed with a Granddaughter, appropriately named Athena. When you visit the store, you are more than likely to see them there!
